E-commerce, or Electronic Commerce, enables
visitors on your Web site to do “cybershopping.” An e-commerce
site will list the products for sale (with an optional picture and
description) along with a "Add to cart button". When the
user adds the item to their "Shopping Cart", they have the
option to continue shopping and to adjust the quantity of items they
wish to purchase or check-out. After shopping is complete
customers "Check-out" where payment takes place.
Once the customer checks out, a receipt will automatically be e-mailed
to the merchant and the customer. The Check-Out also processes
credit cards.
